Meet the Staff

Laurel Mills
Editor-in-Chief

Laurel is a senior majoring in Political Science and German, with certificates in Chinese and European Studies. She is also an Undergraduate Research Fellow and research assistant in the Political Science department. After graduation, she hopes to be able to spend some time in China and Germany before attending law school.

 

Alex Hoppe
Managing Editor

Alex is a senior majoring in Sociology. Recently returned from a year in the Nordic countries and a summer in Russia, his senior thesis research is on the social psychology of fashion. After graduating next semester, he hopes to attend graduate school in Sociology.

Layout Designer

Alex is a sophomore majoring in economics and political science. He is still considering what he would like to do after graduation. For now, he is excited to study abroad in Europe. If all goes well, he will spend next spring in Prague, Copenhagen, or London.

 

Emilia Burns
Grant Coordinator

Emmy is a junior majoring in Environmental Studies and Geography. She hopes to work in environmental advocacy after serving in the Peace Corps upon graduation. Her other interests include hiking, baking, and writing.

 

Miles Kellerman
International Outreach Coordinator

Miles is a senior majoring in Political Science, with a focus on international relations and comparative institutions. He has previously worked in the legislatures of the United Kingdom and New South Wales, Australia, and hopes to pursue a Masters degree post-graduation. His other interests include literature, journalism, and (!) Manchester United.

Domestic Outreach Coordinator

Clark is a senior majoring in Political Science with a focus on international relations and global security issues. His other interests include in American politics, history, and Southeast Asia. After college, he plans to get a graduate degree in public affairs and work in government, think tanks, or NGOs. In his spare time, Clark enjoys biking and watching too much Netflix

Sarah is a junior majoring in political science with a focus on international relations – specifically, issues concerning human rights and international organizations. She enjoys listening to good music, learning new languages and, because she can’t seem to settle on one specific region of interest, she will simply have to visit them all.

Jonathan is a senior majoring in political science and history. He is focusing on international relations in the twentieth century. Jonathan plans to attend law school sometime in the future.

Polo is a sophomore studying Political Science. He is interested in international relations as well as health and social policy. Originally from Tampico, Mexico, he moved to Milwaukee in 2003. He is also the State Legislative Editor at The Badger Herald.


Grace Leppanen

Grace is a freshman and has not decided on a major. She plans to attend law school.

 

Samantha Jorgensen
Editor

Samantha is a sophomore majoring in Political Science with a focus in international relations and global security. Her main area of interest is Latin America, especially Brazil, and is planning on studying abroad there next year. She also studies Portuguese and hopes to one day find a career where she can utilize the language. In her free time she enjoys baking, reading, and attending Badger football games.

 

Sophia Jones
Editor

Sophia is a junior completing her undergraduate degree in Communication Arts and Art History at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she will graduate in 2014. In 2012, in correlation with her studies and through the International Academic Program, IAP, she completed a semester abroad at the University of Westminster. In her spare time in Madison, she co-hosts the weekly radio show El Monde E Musiv, a world music program, on WSUM 91.7 FM Madison, WI, Student Radio. Outside of school, she enjoys practicing yoga, reading, and cooking.
